This formerly drab 70’s Mediterranean abode transformed into a colorful, light-filled Mid-Century Modern home in Agoura Hills, CA.
Bright white walls with vibrant pops of turquoise and orange, walnut wood accents, black details, mid-century-inspired lighting throughout, white oak wood floors, freshly poured terrazzo entryway, and a “cement” feature wall with oversized custom art, make this a beautiful home for a fun family of four.
Before embarking on the design, the homeowners described the house as "Brady Bunch Mediterranean" due to its 1970's modern vibe, high-sloped ceilings, juxtaposed against the Spanish tile roof, gothic iron light fixtures, and traditional details throughout. We loved the description so much, that we dubbed it "Brady Bunch Mediterranean" for the duration of the project, even when submitting the documents to the City.

The new front door and funky pendant lights replace the once heavily paneled door and Spanish iron pendant fixture.

Creative, cost-effective solution: an off-the-shelf wooden bench custom cut around the new wall creates a place for removing and neatly storing a plethora of shoes for this active family.

Using the existing stair structure, the new modern stairs transform the entire home.

In the background, the budget didn’t allow for replacing all the doors, so we created an eye-catching “orange jewel box” hallway, painting everything a vibrant orange, from the walls to the ceiling, to the baseboards to the doors and door frames: everything is orange!

The “orange jewel box” hallway can be seen from all rooms on the main level, making it an eye-popping conversation piece.

New mid-century modern furnishings and lighting in the Dining Room are perfect for entertaining.

Wooden base cabinets, towers, appliance panels, and floating shelves with white upper cabinets and black accents.

Wooden panels integrate the refrigerator and freezer seamlessly, and an adjacent tall space cabinet.

The formerly dark, cramped kitchen is now an open space for creating music and doing homework.

The boys love their new space where they can do homework and rock out!
